Bush League

posted Saturday, 26 May 2007

Sources close to the White House report the Bush administration is planning an “extraordinary rendition” on Michael Moore’s new film Sicko. The action is to be carried out by the CIA. In a speech being prepared for a televised address upon the apprehension of the film, Mr. Bush will reportedly say that Moore’s film poses an extraordinary risk to national security and that he stands by the CIA’s use of a secret prison in this case. As is usually the case when the White House feels strongly about an issue, the President's speech will be given alongside families of those killed in the 11 September 2001 attacks.

Just joking... kind of...

Seeing that reports have surfaced of plans to confiscate the film , Sicko appears to have destructive potential similar to terrorists in the minds of Bushites! Moore may also be facing charges for breaking laws regarding Cuba. V is for Vendetta.

That's Bush League!

As if that isn't embarrassing enough, Bush this week rebuffed a plan by G8 countries including Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Japan to cut greenhouse gases by 50% by 2050. Just like his refusal to sign the Kyoto protocols, the leader of the civilized world makes a mockery of our image once again by siding with corporations against the environment and many close allies. That shouldn't surprise anyone though, that's what Republicans are all about-- the sanctity of the bottom line.

Corporate rulers aren't lobbying (bribing?) Senator Blowhard with big bucks because they believe in good corporate citizenship and enlightened government – hell no, they're out to buy government, using their checks to gain favor from lawmakers. After years of Republican rule Washington is awash in cash and corruption. Instead of representing the folks back home, or solving the country's problems, lawmakers spend their time with lobbyists, corporate execs, and other privileged elites, filling their pockets with cash. Cutting greenhouse emissions by even 10% presents a very costly mandate for the huge corporations that run the show, so forget about it.

That's Bush League!
